Starting Procedure - 4 stroke Petrol Engine

Starting a The 4 Stroke petrol engine requires careful attention to avoid damage to the pull start. Follow these concise instructions to safely start the engine:

1. **Check Fuel and Oil:** Ensure there is enough petrol in the fuel tank and that the engine has sufficient oil. Check Oil Every 2 Hours. Don’t Use When Oil Level Is Low.
2. **Ignition Switch:** Locate the ignition switch and set it to the "ON" position.
3. **Petrol tap:** Locate the Petrol tap and open it. There are 2 levers on the carburetor the bottom lever is the Petrol tap. Push it to the right, towards the engine. Leave it in this “OPEN” position while the engine is running. Some machines have the petrol tap located under the Fuel tank, open it.
4. **Choke Lever:** Find the choke lever near the carburetor. If the engine is cold, move the choke lever to the left (away from the engine). If the engine is warm, leave it in the "OPEN" position to the right (towards the engine)
5. **Throttle Lever:** The throttle speed is set on most of our machines and does not need adjusting.
6. **Pull Through the Compression Stroke:** This step is crucial to avoid damaging the pull start. With your hand on the starter rope, pull it slowly until you feel resistance or a slight 'bump.' This indicates you are at the beginning of the compression stroke. Then, release the pull rope and allow it to rewind gently back.
7. **Start the Engine:** After pulling through the compression stroke, pull the starter rope firmly and quickly in one smooth motion. Avoid yanking or pulling too forcefully, as it can lead to pull start damage. The engine should start up.
8. **Adjust Choke:** Once the engine starts you need to adjust the choke lever by moving it to the “RIGHT” (towards the engine). Both choke and Petrol levers should be in the “RIGHT” position while the engine is running.
9. **Warm-up Period:** Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments before using it under a load.
10. **Shut Down:** To turn off the engine, set the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
11. **Close the Petrol Tap.** It is critical to close the petrol tap after use. You must set the bottom lever on the carburetor to the “LEFT” position (away from the engine).
Some machines have the petrol tap located under the Fuel tank, Be sure to close this tap.
